Doline-Kušići pit, village of Zijemlje

Location: Zijemlje Valley, Istočni Mostar

Importance of the locality:

After escaping from the village of Kljune in June 1992, a group of 12 Bosniaks from the villages of Kljune, Hrušte, Luke was captured by members of Serb military formations. They were taken to the school building in Dnopolje in Zijemlje and subjected to torture and abuse, after which they were taken to the Doline-Kušići pit where they were killed and their bodies thrown into the pit.

Court trials:

The ICTY convicted Momčilo Krajišnik, the wartime speaker of the Republika Srpska National Assembly, and sentenced him to 20 years in prison for crimes against humanity.
