Former Prekaja Primary School

Location: Prekaja, Drvar

Importance of the locality:

The former Prekaja Primary School near Drvar was used as a detention site for Croat and Bosniak civilians and soldiers. The building was part of the detention compound together with the Kamenica and Kozila buildings and the prisoners were forcibly relocated within that system. The prisoners were subjected to abuse and inhumane conditions and forced labour was a daily practice. The building was under the control of the VRS Second Krajina Corps.

No one has been directly prosecuted for crimes committed at the Prekaja Primary School, but the war leadership of RS has been convicted under the doctrine of command responsibility. Prekaja is mentioned in the judgement on the Kamenica detention facility in Drvar.
