Abattoir facility in Modrac

From June to October 1992, the Abattoir facility in Modrac, Municipality of Lukavac was used as a detention site for Serb civilians from the village of Puračić and surrounding villages. The facility was run by the Lukavac Territorial Defence, HVO Modrac and the “Fikina jedinica” military group. Apart from the Abattoir facility, Serb prisoners were also held at a number of other sites during this period, including the Vjekoslav Tunjić Primary School where the Military Police was headquartered and the Secondary School Centre (today the Lukavac Mixed Secondary School).

In its judgement from October 2024, the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina convicted Zijad Srabović and Refik Morankić, sentencing them to 6 years in prison each, Ahmet Bajrić, sentencing him to 7 years in prison, Abid Arapčić, sentenced to 5 years in prison, and Pašaga Čajić, Samir Džambić and Mirsad Žilić, each sentenced to 2 years in prison, for war crimes against the civilian population committed in Lukavac from June to October 1992.
